Article 1. Environmental Responsibility.
By participating in this event, you are responsible for leaving no trace. During many parts of the route, you will pass through fragile areas and ecosystems, so you commit to following the principle: “What comes with me, goes back with me.”
Article 2. Certification.
This event is certified by DEFY TARRACO CHALLENGE. Each certification is recorded in the event’s history (FINISHERS) along with its certification number.
Article 3. Who can participate.
Any cyclist who believes they have the physical capacity to complete the route may participate. Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the start. A signed insurance agreement and waiver are required. The bike must be muscle-powered (no electric bikes). Participants may compete solo or in groups. This is an endurance test and a challenging event, so it is not recommended for beginner cyclists or those with little experience in long-distance cycling.
Article 4. Participation Insurance.
To participate in this event, you must have liability insurance, death coverage, accident insurance, and illness insurance valid for the event. This must also cover emergency evacuation and repatriation. Please note that the organization will not provide any insurance for the event and is not responsible for any direct or indirect damage that may occur to you or others.
Article 5. Activity Registration.
The organizer will provide you with the route card and the tracks for the event. Each participant must choose the start date and time. To prove completion, participants must follow and complete the entire route as marked on the track. It is allowed to temporarily abandon the route, but participants must rejoin at the exact point where they left off. Proof of completion must be submitted through the route log in a GPX or TCX file, as well as by stamping the checkpoints and/or submitting a photo of the bike at a representative spot of the chosen checkpoint. Each participant is on a personal journey and is solely responsible for their own participation.
Article 6. Safety.
Clothing must be light-colored during the day, and at night, participants must wear a reflective vest. If carrying a backpack, the vest must be worn over the backpack or covered with a reflective cover. A certified helmet is required at all times when riding. The bike must be equipped with front and rear lights, with sufficient power and fixed to the bike (mandatory). Helmet lights, arm, or leg lights are considered auxiliary lights and do not substitute the mandatory lights. The route passes through gravel tracks and secondary paved roads open to vehicle traffic, so participants must respect traffic laws, road signs (stop, traffic lights, yield signs, etc.), and instructions from law enforcement and security personnel.
Article 7. Brevet Card.
Once registered, you will receive a route card, which includes a number of checkpoints. At each checkpoint, there is a space to fill in the date and time of passage, along with a stamp from a local establishment or a photo of the bike taken at that location. Failure to provide even a single checkpoint stamp or photo, an unrecorded passing time, or loss of the route card (even in the final stages) will result in disqualification from the route certification. This document serves as proof that the challenge has been completed.
Article 8. Route Completion.
Once the event is completed, the route card must be signed in the space provided for this purpose. If any stamps are missing, photos of the checkpoints can be sent to justify passage through them. Additionally, the GPX/TCX file of the route must be submitted, along with all necessary documentation, to the organizer in order to verify the completion of the route and enter the FINISHERS list of the event. Article 9. Data Protection.
By participating in this event (Defy Tarraco Challenge) you agree to the publication of your identity and finish time in the FINISHERS section of the event. Your identity will never be used for commercial purposes or shared with third parties for this reason. In compliance with Ley Orgánica 15/1999, de 13 de Diciembre, de Protección de Datos de Carácter Personal, we inform you that the personal data you provide during this event, along with any data obtained during the event, will be included in the personal data files owned by DEFY TARRACO CHALLENGE. If you wish, and in accordance with the provisions of Law 15/1999, you can exercise your right to rectify or cancel your data by contacting DEFY TARRACO CHALLENGE.
